MILPLAN’s Timeline

  • Foundation year, as result of purchasing erection operations from Isomonte, which had just been acquired by Máquinas Condor.
  • Achievement of the first Contract with BELGO-MINEIRA, current ARCELOR MITTAL AÇOS LONGOS, in João Monlevade (MG), to assemble the New Hall of Scrap in the Steel Making Plant.
  • Starts the maintenance contract with FERTECO MINERAÇÃO in Ouro Preto (MG), currently called VALE Mina de Fábrica. The partnership with FERTECO overextended uninterrupted for 17 years, with participation in all yearly scheduled stops, as well as several expansion and improvement projects.
  • Signs the first contract with PETROBRAS, for assembling the Vacuum Unit of REGAP in Betim (MG).
  • Starts the works of the Automatic Rolling Mill for MANNESMANN, Current VALLOUREC, in Barreiro Plant in Belo Horizonte (MG). First major challenge, assembling 8,000 tons of equipment and special high-pressure piping.
  • Achievement of the first work for USIMINAS, in Ipatinga (MG), for structures and over-head cranes erection in the Vacuum Degassing Unit at Steel Making plant.
  • Acquire very important new clients, VALE and SAMARCO. Signing two contracts with VALE,  for the implementation of the Gold Project in Riacho dos Machados and for the Ore Treatment Plant in Itabira (MG). With SAMARCO, also two contracts, for the Mixing Line and Ninth Disc for the Pelletizing Plant in Anchieta (ES).
  • Mobilizes very important sites for CSN, for the expansion of Casa de Pedra Mine in Congonhas (MG) and the Relocation of the Valves Bank of the Steel Making Plant in Volta Redonda (RJ).
  • Implements the profit sharing plan, as a form of variable remuneration for corporate employees. IT’S pilot plan was in the work M.209 for BELGO-MINEIRA in João Monlevade (MG).
  • Starts very important partnership with AÇOMINAS, currently called GERDAU AÇOMINAS, through the support for Operation and Maintenance of Steel Making Plant Casting contract, which is so far the largest number of men-hours assumed (1,500,000).
  • Signs with VALE the first contract in the North Region of Brazil, for the assembly of Semi-mobile Crushing Plant Units in Carajás Mine.
  • Launches the Program Q2000 - Total Quality Management, in partnership with the Foundation Christiano Ottoni, an institute linked to the Engineering School of UFMG (Minas Gerais Federal University).
  • Completes perhaps the greatest challenge assumed up that time, the assembly of Electrostatic Precipitators for the Pelletizing Plant of SAMARCO in Anchieta (ES). A large and complex work, which also involved plant shutdowns, having its duration reduced due to operational and environmental needs.
  • Completes the Dam Structures and Power House Recovery Works in the revamping of 182 MW at LIGHT Hydroelectric Plant, in Além Paraíba (MG).
  • Signs an EPC contract for the implementation of the Bulk Throw-outs Processing Plant of MINERAÇÃO TABOCA in Presidente Figueiredo (AM). A location with the major access and logistics difficulties so far faced. 
  • Signs contract with GERDAU in Ouro Branco (MG), for the Peripherals of the Profile Rolling Mill and for the revamping of the Blast Furnace increasing its capacity to 3 million tons per year. The highest peak, so far undertaken, of workers in a sole construction site (1,500 people).
  • Wins its first major project in the Paper and Pulp sector. Evaporation and causticizing Plants, with METSO PAPER, currently called VALMET, and final client RIPASA, currently SUZANO, in Americana (SP).
  • Concludes the Cement Factory of Ijaci for CAMARGO CORRÊA, currently INTERCEMENT, being the greatest work so far executed regarding erected tonnage (16,000 t). Prepares the first Strategic Plan for the triennium 2004 / 2005 / 2006.
  • Starts assembling the Norte Capixaba Terminal of PETROBRAS in São Mateus (ES), having PROMON as the contractor.
  • Consolidates leading position with VALE, working successfully in five units: Ponta da Madeira Terminal in São Luís, Mina de Fábrica Nova in Mariana, Tubarão Complex in Vitória, Mina de Fabrica in Ouro Preto and the Potassium Plant Rosário do Catete. Receives award as "Memorable Supplier of the Year" from VALE.
  • Takes part in two major projects with CSN. Completes the erection of Iron Ore Shipment of Sepetiba Port in Itaguai (RJ). Starts the largest Expansion Project package of Mineração Casa de Pedra in Congonhas (MG). The two projects together counts 23,000 tons of erection. Concludes the greatest work in the Paper and Pulp industry performed so far. Caustification, Furnace and Evaporation Units for Line 2 of SUZANO in Mucuri (BA), with the contractor (VALMET).
  • Receives certification in the Standard ISO 9001. Becomes part of PAEX, a program at Fundação Dom Cabral.
  • It is certified in OHSAS 18001 . Receives "SAMARCO Award of Excellence" for the work rendered in the Third Pelletizing Plant Project.
  • Receives certification in Standard ISO 14001, reaching all certifications of the Integrated Management System - IMS. Wins the call for bid for the area of the Blast Furnaces of VSB in Jeceaba ( MG ), remarkable for being the first experience in the full assembly of this facility.
  • Concludes the greatest work so far performed for PETROBRAS, and the first having as object the complete assembly of two process units, UPGN and UPCGN. Conquests a very important new customer, ANGLO AMERICAN, signing contract for the construction of Pumping and Valves Stations, Pipeline Terminal and Filtering Plant, in the states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro .
  • Reaches for the second consecutive year the ZERO lost time injury frequency rate. Starts implementation of Corporate Governance through Fundação Dom Cabral and establishes the Administrative Council.
  • Consolidates itself in duct works market, concluding 5km pipeline of Barragem Eustáquio for KINROSS in Paracatu ( MG ) and starting 34 km of pipeline for Anglo American in the Minas-Rio project in Conceicao do Mato Dentro ( MG ) . Constitution of MILPLAN EIMISA in a joint venture with the Chilean company Echeverría Izquierdo, and starts important works for the implementation of the Pulp Mill in Imperatriz (MA): Power House of 250 MW, Causticizing and Lime Kilns, Wood Yard and Sewage and Water Catchment.
  • It is recognized by ANGLO AMERICAN as a safety highlight in the Minas-Rio Project, “Large Companies” category, after reaching 1,000 days and 5,000,000 men x hours worked without a lost-time injury . Completes the assembly of Concentration Plant III and Pumps Stations VI and VII of the Fourth Pelletizing Plant Project of SAMARCO in Minas Gerais. the greatest work performed so far, counting 35,500 tons and 1.8 million meters of cables.
  • Starts important works of S11D Project for VALE in Ponta da Madeira Port in São Luís (MA), on-shore and off -shore: Yards (Packages # O1 and O2), 6th Loading Line and Ship Loaders #3 and #4, totaling 25,000 t assembly . At the end of the Minas-Rio Project for ANGLO AMERICAN, MILPLAN reaches 1,588 days and 7,231,000 men x hours without lost-time injury accident.
